
Walter A. Wilson, 70, died Tuesday,
August 16, 2005 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines after a brief illness.
Services were held Friday, August 19 at Grandview Park Funeral Home with
interment in Rising Sun Cemetery.
Walter was born November 22, 1934 in Lake City, IA and lived in Lanesboro
and Rippey before living most of his life in Des Moines. He was a counselor
for the Des Moines school system for over 30 years and taught night school
for 21 years. He was the director of the counseling department for two years
before retiring. During his career, he also counseled for the Veterans Administration.
He was a member of the Grandview Church of Christ, Des Moines Area Retired
Teachers Association, the Altoona Campus, American Legion and Bix B Memorial
Jazz Society. After retirement he preached for the Iowa Central Missions,
serving small communities for the Church of Christ.
Walter is survived by his wife, JoAnn Wilson of Des Moines, two daughters,
Cynthia (Jeff Babcock) Wilson-Brown of Des Moines and Karen (Jeff)Moe of
Johnston, foster daughter, Robin Brady of Des Mines; four grandchildren,
Katlin, Travers, Logan and Emily; and an aunt,Nellie Richards of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Reba Wilson, his sister,
Shirley McDivitt and foster son, Scott Brady.
