Judge Robert D. McAllister, died
at home, August 5, 2005 after battling liver cancer. Beloved husband of
Julie (High) McAllister for almost 35 years. Father of Terry (Doug) Stewart
of Scottsdale, AZ. David (Jamie) McAllister of Des Moines, Missy (Dan) Cleven
of Des Moines, and Jennifer (Trip) Hoffman of Salt Lake City, UT., stepfather
of Brett (Marian) States and Amy States of St. Peters, MO. and grandfather
of twelve.
Robert was born in St. Louis, MO to Hudson and Marie McAllister. He graduated
from Beaumont High School in 1949 and received a degree from Harris Teacher
College in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps from
1953 to 1956. Robert received his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University
in 1965. Soon after graduation, Robert moved to Des Moines where he was
in private practice. He returned to St. Louis in 1970 and continued practicing
law until 1979 when he ran against the incumbent for what was then called
magistrate judge. He retired from the Circuit Court after 20 years but continued
serving as Senior Judge as long as his health permitted.
Memorial services were held at Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ in Chesterfield,
MO on Saturday, August 13, 2005.
