Darece Aileen Fritz Hummel
July 13, 1924-January 13, 2006

Darece Fritz Hummel, the daughter of Charles and Marion Davis Fritz, was born July 13, 1924 at Menlo, IA, and died January 13, 2006, at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, NE, at the age of 81 years and 6 months.
Darece attended and graduated from high school at Rippey, IA. She attended Simpson College, where she was active in the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She graduated, with honors, in 1946 with a degree in history. On June 27, 1948, Darece was united in marriage to D. Don Hummel at Menlo, IA. They lived in Oakland, where Darece helped hart-time in the office of Rodwell Hummel Insurance Agency. In 1981 Darece began working full-time at the Hummel Insurance Agency, where she remained active until the time of her death.
Darece was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women, O.E.S. #425, P.E.O., Federated Club, Fortnightly Club, and several bridge clubs. She had taught Sunday school, had been on the board at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home and the Library Board. She enjoyed reading, bird watching and her grandchildren.
Her husband, her parents, and an infant sister Charlene preceded Darece in death.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Sandra Carroll and her husband Everette of Avoca, IA, Keralyn Groff and her husband Mark of Lino Lakes, MN. and Craig Hummel and his wife Lisa of Oakland, IA.; her grandchildren: John and Patrick Carroll of Avoca, IA. Alissa and Amanda Groff of Lino Lakes, MN. and Molly, Haley, and Hannah Hummel of Oakland, IA. and her brothers, Vernon Fritz and his wife Alice of Grand Junction, IA. and Veryl Fritz and his wife June of Indianola, IA. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive Darece.
Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland, IA were in charge of arrangements.
